Chinese Acupuncture Gaining Ground in Kuwait

Date: November 16, 2025

Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) are seeing a surge of interest in Kuwait, as patients report remarkable improvements under the care of visiting Chinese medical teams. The 17th delegation of Chinese doctors at Kuwait’s Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Hospital has introduced advanced TCM practices—including acupuncture, tuina massage, and cupping therapy—offering treatments that blend traditional wisdom with patient-centered care.

One notable case is Mansour Al-Qallaf, a local lawyer who suffered for years from persistent headaches and vision loss. After just three sessions of "brain-awakening acupuncture," he experienced significant relief and improved vision. Another patient, Abdulaziz, age 70, found relief from seven years of chronic neck pain after beginning acupuncture sessions. And Sophia, who suffered sudden facial paralysis, regained her smile after a month of customized treatment and daily rehab guided by the Chinese team.

Beyond healing, the program is also building bridges. The TCM clinic regularly hosts public education events, and patients have expressed deep appreciation. As team leader Dr. Xiong Zhuang stated, “Every consultation, every treatment is also a cultural exchange that transcends borders.”

This growing embrace of TCM in Kuwait reflects a global trend: traditional practices offering new hope where modern interventions fall short.
